Arabic Night
I just want to thank everyone who came to Arabic Night. I've been the president of this club for 3 and a half years and this has been the most successful student-led event I have ever been to at Franklin, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. Over half of the school (163 students, to be precise) attended this event, and people are still thanking and congratulating me for putting this together.
For anyone who's unfortunate enough to have missed this, let me just go over a few things that you missed:
1) A solo belly dance performance by Taroub Malhas.
2) A group performance by Petra Orent, Sara Steinert, Christine Nitescu.
3) People dressed in traditional Arab clothing.
4) We had a small bar with drinks.
5) The ever so famous sheesha corner with different flavors.
6) Excellent traditional food (tabula, Arabic peta bread, meat with potatoes, cucumber with yogurt sauce, feta, just to name a few). We also had dates and hummus on each table.
We had a cooking committee, who were responsible for preparing the meals, and a decorating committee, who were responsible for the Arabic decorations. Both of these groups did an amazing job. I'm quite proud of this event, and am sad to say that this will be my last Arabic Night here, since this is my last semester at Franklin College. However, I'm sure that whoever will lead this club next semester will do a brilliant job organizing such an event. I thank you all once again for coming, our hard work was worth it.
